High School Programs Farm and Forest Show
OPPORTUNITY FOR CHEFS AND RESTAURANT OWNERS TO LEARN ABOUT THE NH FARM TO RESTAURANT CONNECTION'S CERTIFIED LOCAL PROGRAM
There will be ample time for discussion and questions. This voluntary program is intended to be a positive experience for applicants, and the broad point system developed in consultation with chefs and the NH Lodging and Restaurant Association was intentionally designed to permit certification of varied venues. The NH Farm to Restaurant Association, an all volunteer organization within NH Made, serves as a resource to applicants, identifying local sources and advising how to integrate local farm products onto menus.
The certification program, funded by grants from the NH Dept of Agriculture, Markets and Food and the Northeast Farm Credit AgEnhancemant Program, benefits farmers and the farm economy by increasing demand for local products, the public by identifying restaurants which serve fresh local food and the restaurants, themselves, by identifying those meeting the public demand for local food. A "Food Trail" map identifying certified restaurants is planned, and certified restaurants will be promoted by the Farm to Restaurant Connection and partners.
Partners in this program include the NH Department of Agriculture Markets and Food, the NH Lodging and Restaurant Association, the NH Division of Travel and Tourism Development, Rumbletree of North Hampton, NH and the Northeast Farm Credit AgEnhancement Program.
